Cheap Thrills Part 2

Champagne taste on a beer budget?  Check out some of my favorite go-to places for great meal deals!

No more food on the table! Check out the ceiling furniture though.

Pan de Americana - if you're in the mood for some pan de sal, don't go for the 2-peso teeny-tiny ones. Rush to Katipunan Extension towards White Plains and get gigantic 1950s pan de sal for P6.00 each. Their ensaymada is equally good! And humongous! But if you're really hungry and looking for rice, they also serve lutong-bahay fares. It's a carinderia with ambience!

Favorites: Wheat Pan de sal, Wheat Ensaymada, Sugba Family Platter, Everasting sa Llanera, Crispy Tawilis, Pinakbet Ilocano, Red Iced Tea Pitcher.

Banapple Cafe Restaurant (Katipunan Ext., Blue Ridge, QC) - craving for big meals and huge desserts? Banapple is the place! Pasta and rice meals are great for sharing, so are the meat pies and dessert. The place can really get crowded during the lunch hour and the evenings, so better get there on time if you want to snatch a parking space.

Favorites: Meat pies, Banoffee Pie, Hickory Ribs, Pasta, all their salads, and the huge glass of iced tea.

Felicia's Pastry Cafe (Doll Bldg., Bacolod City) - this one's in Bacolod City, but before you protest, hear me out ok? Or better yet, check out their cake display! This one above is my personal favorite. Chocolate and mint just go together perfectly!

Favorites: The Chocolate Mint Cake is to die for! But their Choco Pyramids are great too. Also, it was my first time to see Chocolate Beehives after a long, long time. Bottom line: anything with chocolate is heavenly! The best part of Felicia's is their cakes come in individual servings, so they're just right.

Cafe Antonio (LB Square, Los Baños) - this one is a recent discovery. A very decent place, good food, great coffee, superb service. Imagine being let in half an hour before opening time! If that's not service, I don't know what is!

We had pasta (P75.00) and this cute cappuccino (P55.00). O, ha? Presyong estudyante! Sing-sarap, pero di sing-mahal! Also, they have gigs here, although we still have to check that one out. But with coffee and a gig plus good food? This could be the perfect chill place.

Casa Carmela Chicken Inasal Paté (casacarmelakitchen@yahoo.com) - this isn't exactly cheap, but considering that I don't have to go all the way to Negros to enjoy this makes it reasonably-priced.

I especially like the smokey flavor of the paté. It goes so well with bland crackers. I bet it would taste great on pasta too!

Soon to visit: Korean Canteen for Filipinos at 15th Avenue, cor. P. Tuazon in Cubao. I've always been curious about Korean cuisine. The closet I've gotten is the Korean Beef Stew at Kimchi. And soju and kimchi from the neighborhood Korean store. My sister says it's carinderia-style, reasonably-priced, and air-conditioned. At night, the place becomes a KTV (with separate rooms), so you can even belt out your favorite song while eating hot (meaning spicy) Korean fare.

P.S. If you missed Part 1, just click on this link. I have 10 other places posted there. Will post more as I go around searching for these interesting dining experiences.
